After breakfast, head out to visit the stunning Jaisalmer Fort (Sonar Quila). Constructed in 1156 AD, the living fort features temples, palaces and vibrant bazaars entwined in its golden walls. It’s a perfect place for couples to walk through the narrow streets, to be surprised by the carved chisel work and take pictures at the beautifully decorated doorways. The next stop is Patwon Ki Haveli, a cluster of 5 huge mansions and with large corridors decorated with intricate carvings and filigreed work and typical rajput havelis. This haveli is also ideal for couple portraits against carved balconies and arches. Later visit the peculiar peacock shaped Salim Singh Ki Haveli and Nathmal Ki Haveli with a fabulous carved chervil that looks like lace on stone as if it would be a part of the stone. Then after your breakfast start your trip sightseeing of the City, first visit the centuries old Jain Temples located within the Jaisalmer Fort built in the 12th century. Then head later to Bada Bagh, a site full of royal cenotaphs (chhatris) of the Jaisalmer families. Surrounded by desert, this is an ideal spot for photography and peaceful evenings together. The temple is also famous for its mystic past of the 1965 and 1971 wars when several thousand shells fired in the vicinity of the temple failed to explode. The epic ride through the arid Thar Desert is an adventure in its own right. Couples can also view the Indo-Pak border area protected by the Indian Army. In the evening, drive back to the city of Jaisalmer and check in at your boutique heritage hotel.
On your last day in Jaisalmer, have breakfast at the hotel. You’ll have some time before you depart to check out a few of the city’s most iconic spots. Go to Sadar Bazaar which is famous for bright eclectic collectibles, leather and Rajasthani textiles.
